New year, new name for Royal Papworth Hospital

Royal Papworth Hospital has now introduced its new name after receiving a royal title from Her Majesty The Queen in September last year.

The change in name was approved by the hospital's Board of Directors in December, 2017.

Royal Papworth Hospital becomes the first royal hospital in the East of England, in recognition of its pioneering history and continued commitment to developing the treatments of the future.

In September, the hospital will move to its new, state-of-the-art site on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. 2018 will also mark the hospital’s centenary.

Stephen Posey, Chief Executive Officer at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: "The royal title is a fitting tribute to the many talented, committed staff members who have made the hospital what it is today. Our new name is an extremely positive way in which to start the next chapter in our history as we commence our centenary celebrations and prepare to move into our new hospital."

The hospital’s new logo is already in use on the Trust’s website and social media channels and will be implemented gradually on printed materials over the coming weeks and months.
