17 September 2026

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is holding its Annual Members’ Meeting on Wednesday 21 October 2026.

Foundation trust members of the hospital, staff and the public are welcome to attend.

We have two feature presentations from guest speakers

Dr Jas Parmar, Consultant Transplant Respiratory Physician will be talking about the first lung transplant that was successfully completed through the UK's landmark new Assessment and Recovery Centres (ARCs) pilot programme, marking a major milestone in efforts to increase the number of life-saving organ transplants. The ARCs programme introduces a new model of transplantation in which an organ is donated at one hospital, taken to a second hospital to be placed on a perfusion machine where its function is carefully assessed, and then transplanted at a third hospital.

Rhys Hurst, Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner - Specialist Ventilatory Community Service will talk about our respiratory outreach clinic and how it is offering seamless specialist care for patients on home mechanical ventilation. Hear about how the service supports the NHS’ 10 Year Health Plan for England and the difference it makes to patients.

Also on the agenda

We will also be joined by Dr Jag Ahluwalia, Chair; Eilish Midlane, Chief Executive Officer; Matthew Hodson, Chief Nurse; and Sophie Harrison, Chief Finance Officer, who will reflect on clinical, operational and financial performance during 2025/26, as well as focusing on the current year and future plans.

The results of this year’s Council of Governors election will be announced at the meeting too.
