Dr Khan has worked at Royal Papworth Hospital since 2012. She currently works in the clinical education team looking after medical education training for undergraduates and postgraduates.

Why did you choose your current role?

I trained as a specialist registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology but was on a career break looking after my three children when I came across the role at Royal Papworth. I joined the clinical education team to gain exposure and experience in teaching and I have to say that Royal Papworth Hospital offered me a lot more than I expected and it was the best decision I ever made.

Have you completed any further training while at Royal Papworth Hospital?

I was given the opportunity to undertake an MSc in Medical and Healthcare Education which I have now successfully completed.  I also completed a two-year fellowship in Quality Improvement with Health Education East of England.  I have developed immensely both on a personal and professional level and am not only able to pass these skills on to other healthcare professionals but also use them to provide the best patient care.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I have a great passion for teaching and thoroughly enjoy the delivery and design of both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. The great variety in my work makes it very rewarding for me. I am very proud to be working at a world-renowned specialist cardiothoracic hospital with such an excellent and friendly team.

How are you feeling about the move to the new hospital?

I am very excited and really looking forward to the move where new opportunities will open up to take training and education to the next level.
