Dr Preston read Medicine at the University of Southampton School of Medicine, including an intercalated BSc in biomedical sciences. Following house jobs, he trained in surgery for four years, followed by a year in medical education, working as a clinical skills tutor.
He then took up a specialty registrar position on the Wessex histopathology training scheme. Dr Preston’s cardiothoracic pathology experience was gained in Southampton and at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
He was appointed to Papworth Hospital in 2012.
