Bill trained as a civil engineer and worked as a consultant and in state-owned organisations that provide essential public services - water and rail. He has been a volunteer at Addenbrooke’s for over eight years, firstly in oncology providing information and support for patients and their families, and now as a ward volunteer.

He was a governor at Cambridge University Hospitals from 2019 to 2022. During that time, he learned a lot about the role, the management of a large hospital and the best ways for a governor to help support the trust.

Bill plays a lot of sport, particularly hockey, golf and tennis. He lives locally and is married with one son.
