Executive director Tim Glenn has returned to Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust following his one-year secondment at East Kent University Hospitals.

During Tim’s time as interim Chief Finance Officer at East Kent, he helped to reduce the hospital’s financial deficit by 25%. He was also instrumental in the trust’s reduction in A&E waiting times and waiting lists for elective treatment, which represent huge improvements to patients’ lives and outcomes.

On his return to Cambridge, Tim reprised his post as deputy chief executive, which had been filled by medical director Dr Ian Smith

In addition, Tim has taken on the new role of executive director of commercial development, strategy and innovation on a six-month trial – a position recently approved in a vote by our foundation trust members.

Sophie Harrison will remain as the interim chief financial officer (CFO) during this trial period.

Our chief executive, Eilish Midlane, said:

“Tim has done a brilliant job steadying the ship at East Kent and supporting a material improvement in performance. I am delighted to welcome him back to the team at Royal Papworth Hospital and look forward to his support in developing the trust in areas of currently untapped opportunity.”

“I want to thank Ian for so ably stepping into the deputy CEO during the past several months.

“Thank you also to Sophie who has done a tremendous job as interim CFO. This extension to her time in the role is extremely well deserved.”
