Medical Staff
Dr Lewis is a consultant cardiologist and transplant physician, specialising in congenital heart disease, advanced heart failure, cardiothoracic transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.
He joined Royal Papworth Hospital in 2006 from Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Heart Hospital where he trained. Dr Lewis has a special interest in the health of young people, transition and the adult congenital heart disease service.
Current roles include Deputy Medical Director of Royal Papworth Hospital, Lead Appraiser, Director of Medical Education, Cambridge University Associate Lecturer and Senior Clinical Tutor.
Dr Catriona Bhagra is a consultant cardiologist with a joint appointment between Addenbrooke’s and Royal Papworth Hospitals with sub-specialist interests in heart failure, cardiac MRI and maternal cardiology.
She was appointed in October 2016 following higher specialist training in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Toronto where she undertook a post CCT fellowship in adult congenital cardiology and heart disease in pregnancy.
Dr Bhagra specialises in the management of pregnant women with ACHD and provides individualised pre-conception counselling to all patients considering pregnancy.
Nursing Staff
Kiko trained in the Philippines and came to work in the UK in 2010.
He joined Royal Papworth Hospital in 2017 after working as a staff nurse in theatres.
He moved onto our transplant team and is now our ACHD lead nurse.
Carole has worked at Royal Papworth Hospital as a senior nurse since 1995.
She joined the ACHD service in 2009, she has extensive experience in working with patients who have long term conditions.
Her specialist interest is transition which provides support and help for young people and their families transferring from the paediatric to the adult service.
Carole is also on the hospital safeguarding committee and works closely with patients with learning difficulties.
Clinical Pyschology
Fran Davies is a clinical psychologist with over thirty years’ experience.
She has worked with young people, carer, parents, adults and staff, offering therapy, training, supervision and consultation.
Fran has a special interest in helping people to live as well as possible, no matter what their circumstances. She can offer EMDR, ACT, CFT and CBT as therapeutic interventions.
Fran has a longstanding interest in congenital heart disease and is delighted to be a part of the ACHD team 2.5 days a week.
Admin Support Staff
Chloe started working at the Royal Papworth Hospital when the new site first opened in May 2019 as a receptionist working on the wards.
Chloe was then appointed ACHD co-ordinator late 2019. Chloe organises and takes care of all the administration for the ACHD service including referrals.
Chloe registers patients and helps to co-ordinate their clinical pathway. Chloe also communicates with the booking team, takes patient general enquiries and directs them to the relevant team members if needed.
