The Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) service at Royal Papworth Hospital is one of seven adult UK National Pulmonary Hypertension centres. Our unit adheres to the latest service specifications and standards of care for PH, providing specialised care for patients with pulmonary hypertension and other pulmonary vascular diseases.
Our activity and performance is published in the national audit for pulmonary hypertension.
The multidisciplinary team provides an integrated package of care including assessment, diagnosis, education, long-term management and support. We are committed to evidence-based practice and follow up-to-date guidelines. Our goal is to provide every patient diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension with the knowledge, skills and treatment options necessary to ensure the best possible long-term outcomes for this condition.
In order to provide services and support closer to the patient’s home, our PH service has developed a shared care network with the following hospitals: Coventry University Hospital, Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
We work closely with Royal Papworth’s Transplant, Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) and Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILD) services, having developed a joint PVDU/ACHD clinic. We collaborate with the Departments of Rheumatology Haematology and Liver Disease from Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
