Invitation to book your second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine
Welcome to the Royal Papworth Hospital COVID-19 Vaccination Hub pages. Below you will find a check list of things you need to do and information you need to bear in mind for your second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine being administered is the COVID-19 AstraZeneca vaccine. The goverment has issued updated guidance for recipients of this vaccine so please ensure that you have read the guidance. If you have already had a first dose of AZ vaccine without suffering any serious side effects you should complete the course. This includes people aged 18 to 29 years who are health and social care workers, unpaid carers and family members of those who are immunosuppressed.
You should have received details of how to book the appointment via text from +44 7860 039092 and the text will begin “You are being invited to book an appointment for your second dose of the COVID-19 AstraZeneca vaccine at the Royal Papworth vaccination hub. Follow the link below to book your appointment.” Please follow the URL link provided in this text to book your second appointment on the DrDoctor booking portal. Do not share this URL with anyone else as it has been aligned to the date of your first vaccination. It will be sent to the mobile number you supplied on your booking form for the first dose you received.
Alternatively, you will have booked your second appointment at the same time as booking your first appointment.
If you cannot make any of the appointments offered or you need to cancel your appointment, please contact our booking team on 07341 800425, Monday to Friday 07:30-18:30, to make alternative arrangements.
Eligibility
- This COVID-19 Vaccination Hub is for specifically invited members of Royal Papworth staff, volunteers, bank staff, honorary or contracted staff working on site. Staff from other eligible organisations include Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust, East of England Ambulance Service, and other health and social care staff that we have partnered with.
- If you have not been invited to attend this clinic please check your eligibility to attend with your employer.
- By booking your appointment you are confirming that you are eligible to receive the vaccine.
- Please do not forward these pages or booking link on to anyone you are not sure is eligible to receive the vaccine at this vaccine hub.
Information to bear in mind when booking your appointment:
- Allow 30 minutes for your appointment.
- Appointments must be booked 24 hours in advance
- The clinic is open 08:00-16:00, Monday to Friday.
- Appointments are offered on a first come, first served basis to avoid vaccine wastage.
- Ensure that your line manager is aware that you have booked a vaccine appointment.
- Try to schedule your appointment for the beginning or end of your shift.
- You will need your NHS number when booking your vaccine appointment – you should be able to find this on any letter or document you have received from the NHS, including prescriptions, test results, and hospital referrals or appointment letters. If you have recently arrived from overseas but have not registered with a GP yet, you must make sure to do so as soon as possible. However, if you want to have the vaccine but are concerned that you do not have a NHS number yet, please email janet.way1@nhs.net. We would like to clarify that this is only an option for people who do not have a NHS number, not those who have forgotten theirs.
- Have you downloaded and filled out the vaccine consent form available on this page or on the vaccine related documents page? Please print and bring this with you to your appointment.
Attending your appointment:
- Vaccine hub location. The vaccine clinic is located in clinics C and E in the outpatients area at Royal Papworth Hospital, Papworth Road, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge, CB2 0AY. See our 'getting here' page.
- Parking. Parking for staff working in the hub, staff who are off site and those individuals attending for vaccination is available in Car Park 2. Please allow 5 minutes to walk from the car park to the south entrance of the hospital. For public transport options see our 'getting here' page. Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) staff are asked to utilise their own parking allocation on the campus.
- Accessing the hospital: Please enter the hospital via the south (car park) entrance. You will be asked to show your staff ID at the entrance and will not be able to access the hospital if you do not have it.
- Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you arrive more than five minutes early for your appointment we will need to ask you to wait outside. This is to minimise footfall in the hospital for infection control reasons. If you are late your vaccine may be allocated to someone else and you will need to rebook your appointment.
- There will be nowhere secure to leave your belongings, please keep them with you at all times.
- Accessibility. The clinic is on the ground floor. There are disabled toilets nearby. For full details regarding accessibility, please visit our Accessible website.
- People attending the vaccination hub must come unaccompanied. This includes partners and children. Assistance will be available on site for those who require it. Please let the main reception know your requirements and we will aim to support you with these.
- Our Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) procedures. Please follow our IPC guidance, which includes wearing a surgical face mask (not face covering) when in the hospital, which we will provide, maintaining social distancing and follow strict hand hygiene processes.
- Don’t forget your staff ID, second dose consent form and vaccine record card. It is essential that you have your staff ID badge (or a letter from your employer and photo ID) with you on the day of the appointment as this will be checked on arrival before being allowed access to the hospital. It will be checked again prior to vaccination. If you do not have the above specified ID, it is unlikely that you will be able to receive your vaccination.
- Please do not attend your appointment if you are feeling unwell or are displaying any COVID-19 symptoms. If you are part of the self-testing programme we recommend that you self- test on the morning of the appointment to ensure that you are not asymptomatically positive.
If you need to cancel or no longer require your appointment:
- Cancellations must be made 24 hours before your appointment via our booking system. Failure to notify us that you will not be attending may affect your opportunity to rebook. Please telephone 07341 800425 - if unanswered, please leave your name and the time of your slot that you are not able to attend or no longer require.
- If you were booked in to receive your vaccination with another organisation, and then receive your vaccination at Royal Papworth Hospital please ensure you follow the cancellation process for the organisation you were initially booked in with.
- In the event we are required to cancel your appointment, you will receive a text message advising you of this. You will then need to rebook your appointment in DrDoctor using the booking system.
