Emma Harris, Lead Nurse for the Interstitial Lung Disease service:
"Many of our patients have chronic progressive lung conditions. Over the last few years new and innovative treatments have become available to patients and as nurses we play a key role in caring for patients and helping to maintain them on treatment. Nurses can make a significant difference to the ILD patient group by providing high quality care from diagnosis through to palliation. Working within the service I have been able to complete my degree and undertake a master’s degree."
Operating Department Practitioners
ODPs are a vital part of the theatre team here ar Royal Papworth and help to provide a high standard of care to all our patients, assisting the team with a range of tasks before, during and after surgery.
Sandra Coulson, Operating Department Practitioner:
"I had previously worked in factories for 25 years but one day I woke up and thought 'I want to do something different, something new'.
"I began as a healthcare support worker and then started two-year ODP training which I finished in September 2018. I love being a part of the theatre team at Royal Papworth Hospital."
