Coronavirus: Please see here for our latest COVID-19 advice for our patients and their relatives.
The Government has published guidance (21 March 2020) for people who are at very high risk of severe illness from coronavirus (COVID-19) because of an underlying health condition. This guidance is also intended for their family, friends and carers.
This will affect many Royal Papworth Hospital patients. To help us at this busy time, we would be very grateful if you could read this guidance and see if it answers your questions before contacting our clinical teams.
Shielding is a measure to protect people who are clinically extremely vulnerable by minimising all interaction between those who are extremely vulnerable and others. We are strongly advising people with serious underlying health conditions which put them at very high risk of severe illness from coronavirus (COVID-19) to rigorously follow shielding measures in order to keep themselves safe.
For more detail about who falls into the ‘extremely vulnerable’ group and what shielding measures they should take, please read the Guidance on shielding and protecting people defined on medical grounds as extremely vulnerable from COVID-19, provided by Public Health England.
We also have specific COVID-19-related advice for Royal Papworth Hospital patients.
