From Saturday 1 August, the government will no longer be advising people who are clinically extremely vulnerable to shield.

However, please continue to minimise your contact with others, wash your hands regularly, avoid touching your face and keep two metres away from those not in your household or bubble.

Please remember that staying at home also remains an option if you don't feel comfortable.

This continues to be an ongoing situation and shielding could be brought back in in the event of a local outbreak causing a lockdown.

For more detail about who falls into the ‘extremely vulnerable’ group and what shielding measures they should take, please read the Guidance on shielding and protecting people defined on medical grounds as extremely vulnerable from COVID-19, provided by Public Health England.
