Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RPH) is delighted to announce Eilish Midlane as its new Chief Executive.
Eilish joined Royal Papworth as Chief Operating Officer in 2017, and has been instrumental in leading the organisation’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, strategically managing the Trust’s emergency and elective programme, and supporting the operational move to a new hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
Announcing the appointment, Chairman Professor John Wallwork said: “Eilish brings a wealth of strategic experience at an executive leadership level. As well as a detailed knowledge of the fabric of our organisation and our ambitions, Eilish provides the resilience to help the Trust meet the challenges and changes facing the health service.
“Eilish holds significant NHS expertise in service improvement and delivery, and I am delighted that she is taking up this position as we continue on our journey to deliver tomorrow’s treatments to today’s patients.”
Prior to joining RPH, Eilish was the Divisional Director of Clinical Support Services at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, where her role spanned strategy, operational leadership and hospital and clinical services reconfiguration.
Eilish said: “It is a huge privilege to be given the opportunity to take up the role of Chief Executive at an organisation with a regional, national, and international reputation for excellence and innovation.
“I have been proud to have been part of the Trust’s transformational journey over the past five years. I am looking forward to working alongside our committed and hardworking staff, and harnessing the skills and talents of our people, to continue on our journey and deliver the highest quality care for our patients.”
Eilish will take up the role when current Chief Executive Stephen Posey leaves the organisation later this month. Tim Glenn, Chief Finance Officer, will take on the position of Deputy Chief Executive as part of his remit.
