Apprenticeships are a combination of practical work in a role while studying a course alongside. It is a fantastic opportunity for anyone to earn while learning.

Apprenticeships have a combination of classroom-based learning, assignments, observations and an end point assessment.

Here at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust our apprenticeships are available at different levels. These range from level 2 (GCSE equivalent) to level 6 (Bachelor’s degree).

 

To study an apprenticeship with us you would need to:

  • Be 16 years or older (some apprenticeships you will need to be 18)
  • Employed in a role within our organisation
  • Be working as a minimum of 30 hours per week
  • Legally have the right to work in the UK
  • Resided in the UK for at least three years
  • Not be in full-time education
  • Must not hold the same apprenticeship standard or framework that you have previously completed

Most of our apprenticeships have entry requirements of holding a GCSE in English and Maths (this is dependent upon course provider). Additional requirements would be listed on the job application.

When you apply for an apprenticeship opportunity at Royal Papworth, the advert will make clear how much your salary will be. Pay for apprenticeships vary depending on the position and role that you are undertaking training in.

The duration of an apprenticeship varies depending on what course you are undertaking. Apprenticeships last between one and four years in duration. More information can be provided when an opportunity arises.

20% of working hours are set aside for ‘off the job training’ as part of your course. This is learning that takes place away from your place of work such as, classroom/online learning activities, observation of other areas or other learning elements relating to your apprenticeship.
