Volunteers play a critical role at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, helping to support our services, staff and patients.
They volunteer thousands of hours of their time each year, carrying out vital tasks such as visiting inpatients to provide them with some company and conversation and assisting teams with the delivery of their services.
Patient research ambassadors are also volunteers, helping to promote research and the important of patient and public involvement.
In 2021, volunteers have played a pivotal role in our COVID-19 response. From sewing scrubs and wash bags to distributing food and wellbeing packages, they have supported our staff wellbeing throughout the pandemic, helping to maintain and improve patient care. At Royal Papworth Hospital, volunteers have also helped to run our vaccine hub since January, where almost 15,500 jabs have been administered.
Sharon, Aileen and Chris are three of those who have given their time for free. We are greatful to them and all their volunteer colleagues.
